Medical Transportation Services
Medical transportation services are available to eligible registered 165 band members in need of transportation to and from required medical appointments (within the eligible geographical catchment area). Eligibility, service information, and applications are available upon request at the Caldwell Band Office through the Health Programs Coordinator.
Health care services are provided every Wednesday and implemented by a Nurse Practitioner. Those unfamiliar with this role in the health care system, a Nurse Practitioner can examine patients, diagnose illnesses, provide counselling and education, write prescriptions, order lab tests and refer to specialists when necessary.
Nurse Practitioners are knowledgeable about managing chronic diseases like diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure: treat episodic illnesses such as ear infections and colds: provide preventative health care such as pap tests, referrals for mammograms, bone density tests and colon cancer screening. The Nurse is now able to draw blood and transport the samples to the lab.
Nurse Practitioners work with other members of the heath care team including physicians, traditional healers, dietitians and social workers to make sure you get the best care possible.
Services are provided every six weeks. Clients required to book appointment time through Community Wellness worker at 519-322-1766.
Next service date: Thurs., Oct. 11 & Fri., Oct. 12 - Both days 9am-2pm
